Forum International de Montréal (FIM) is a research-based organization. Central to the FIM mandate is the creation and dissemination of knowledge that will contribute to strengthening the impact of civil society on multilateralism. Since its inception, case studies have been FIM’s primary and preferred method for capturing and disseminating practitioner knowledge in an accessible and scholarly manner. FIM also commissions background papers, analyses, and studies designed to support its programming.
CASE STUDIES
The purpose of our case studies is to improve civil society practitioner knowledge. It is our belief that documenting and sharing experiences and lessons learned is key to strengthening CSO leadership. Since its inception, FIM has commissioned over twenty case studies on a wide variety of themes related to how civil society has influenced multilateralism. Case studies are part of all areas of FIM programming: the Annual Forum, Conferences, and Projects. FIM has incorporated a participatory review process into its case study method. Depending upon the nature of the study, reviewers are selected from academia and/or civil society organizations.
